Consistency is said to be one of the core principles of leading a successful life. Together with hard work, it makes positive outcomes. It is the core message of the famous Tortoise and Hare story, where the unlikely winner had the power of steadiness.
So, what does being consistent mean?
Performing a task at a fixed time, for a fixed duration and after a fixed period, over and over.
There are three fundamentals here
- Fixed time of the event
- Fixed duration of the event
- Fixed period between consecutive events
The essence of the above definition is rigidity with respect to time. The task has to happen no matter what. Skipping is detrimental. Repetition is the rule.
Consistency is the key
On the road to the ideal consistency, the only thing I repeatedly bumped into was a failure to achieve it. I promised to wake up at sharp four but only found myself sleeping till five or sometimes six in the morning.
